![]() I'm going to order a HDMI -> Mini-DP convertor tomorrow as well as a DP -> mini-DP converter. working on this for 5-6 hours now and driving me crazy. also played around with settings for that in the config file. it also seems like i can't activate "direct mode" anymore as the headset needs to be active. disabling one of my 2 monitors and extending the desktop instead of duplicating (what i already had as a setting anyway) "waking it up" through virtual desktop or some other VR tool deleting the steam/steamapps/common/steamvr directory entirely re-installing the Vive and Steam entirely, including getting rid of everything in the registry removing all USB drivers from my computer entirely with a tool removing all USB drivers from within SteamVR rebooting 30 times, both steamvr and my computer checking, re-plugging in all the cables numerous of times I've tried connecting it to my other computer (laptop) and it _does_ detect it there, with a green light. Base stations and controllers are detected nicely and are green, but the headset is red. Vive was working perfectly for about a month and now all of a sudden I'm getting a red light. So I also have this problem, in my case it happened totally out of the blue. Otherwise, windows sees the Vive as a monitor for me and not a device. ![]() It only overrides that setup if I run ViveSetup again. And it always does when I turn off SteamVR. SteamVR should always allocate the proper driver load order every startup, otherwise, my vive does mirror as a monitor. I know it's not my cables since stock cables don't work and assuming I run ViveSetup before steamVR all cables I've used work.Īfter looking deeper into it, so far I think it's driver prioritization for Direct Mode. (linkbox to pc via hdmi did the same thing for me. Run ViveSetup again, mirroring monitor error. Created on ApMy desktop makes a really loud low pitched noise and the computer and keyboard won’t turn on I tried opening steam and got an error saying something about missing SHEL元2. Exit SteamVR for any reason, restart, error 208. Initial procedure: linkbox to PC, drivers installed. (I've also considered that the Cintiq is interfering somehow, but again, ViveSetup fixes it anyway). My setup is as follows: GTX 980Ti (Monitor (DVI), TV (DP-HDMI), CINTIQ (HDMI) and VIVE (DP-mDP). What's the status Stay informed of your VR system's status at a glance with the ever-present VR Status Monitor. SteamVR supports the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, and others. I was almost sure that it was my multiple displays or direct mode issues until I saw you guys still having problems after dc'ing the monitors. SteamVR is the ultimate tool for experiencing VR content on the hardware of your choice. I get this every time I start SteamVR, unless I run VIVESetup.exe EVERY time. I don't know if this had anything to do with it working now, but I figured I should mention it. We went with the AMD Ryzen 5 with six cores and 16GB of RAM. There was also an auto update of ViveDriver Installer this morning on my laptop after reboot to version 1.0.1.11 (from 1.0.1.8). This VR PC is a consumer market PC rather than a workstation, so you will pay a fair price. I then switched back to Direct Mode and it was still working. started SteamVR - it was immediately detected and working. Clicked advanced options and changed display from 720x480 to 2160x1200.Ĥ. That is hooked directly from mini-DP on laptop to mini-DP on breakout box. So then I purchased this mini-DP to mini-DP cable: I tried another, newer mini-DP to HDMI adapter and that failed as well. ![]() Opera GX does work for me without changing any settings but you probably have to try yourself.I have come back to report success with ROG G751 JY. You will have to use the browser version with a browser that does not block that kind of usage (MS Edge does for example lock up against anything and no change of settings stops it) though. It works perfectly and you wont find a cheaper way to have a home theater. Steam VR has an build in feature that allows you to see and manipulate your desktop, but you cant make it very big and its hard to see stuff.Īfter I bought Virtual Desktop and used it for this purpose, had the idea to combine it with Netflix or Disney+ and to use it as a virtual private home theater. Perfect as a home theater and to do litterally anything on your PC without leaving VR.Īfter i got an Valve Index and used it for some hours i had some problems with my computer and had to take the headset off to fix them several times.
